DEPRESSION

LASTING RELIEF FROM THE SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION.

LONG-TERM RELIEF FROM DEPRESSION THROUGH A COMBINATION OF MINDFULNESS, BREATHING TECHNIQUES & A TAILORED ONE-ON-ONE YOGA ROUTINE AT VAIBS MEDIYOGA.

What is it?

More than just occasionally feeling sad or “blue”, depression is a serious illness that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you think, behave and feel about yourself, others and the world more broadly. Depression is not a sign of personal weakness nor a condition that can be wished away. People with depression cannot simply pull themselves out of it and get better. If left untreated, depression can last for weeks, months, or years and sometime lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. Appropriate treatment, however, can help most people with depression.

How we can help

Based on the scientific premise that depression is caused by a chemical (neurotransmitter) imbalance in the brain, Vaibs work to help reduce feelings of depression and sadness on a physiological level, through the practice of yoga asanas and pranayama, which release "feel good" neurotransmitters in the brain such as dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins. Vaibs also tackles depression on a psychological level, through gaining insight into the power of meditation and gratitude using:

  • Pre-Meditation Techniques
  • Self-Affirmations
  • Gratitude Journaling

This combination of mind body mend techniques aims to improve your physical well-being, sense of self-worth and autonomy and reduce other depression related symptoms such as difficulty concentrating, insomnia/hypersomnia and loss of energy.
